#01 FREIBAD (2015)In summer, people of all social classes stream into the city's outdoor pools. They're a place of sensory overload: The smell, the sound, the sun burning your skin and the cold water taking away your breath. Outdoor pools are the stage of the nation, where else do such diverse generations, nationalities and types cavort in the narrowest public space? The lifeguard's struggle with the pelvic edge jumpers, the sport swimmers who overrun everything that gets into their way, the sunburned bodies of the bikini models or the poser boys challenging each other at the diving board. Viewed from a distance, the mass of people appears as a swarm of insects, underscoring the absurdity of the situation.
